Part of the Story:
Why I became a child life specialist...
My pursuit of becoming a child life specialist was prompted by my experience with the power of connection and the capacity for families to heal and grow in the midst of life's most difficult seasons. When families are provided with nurturing care and validation of pain and grief, they are given opportunities to foster hope in the midst of hurt. When given support in identifying personal strengths, families have the opportunity to gain mastery over life's most difficult experiences and become resilient. As a child life specialist, my commitment is to authentically meet the psychosocial needs of infants, children, adolescents and families to foster in them courage and hope to live a life of resilience.
Mission
I will advocate for people to have the opportunity to grow resiliently through life’s adversities at their own pace, empowered, nurtured, and infused with hope as I utilize the pillars of child life and child life competencies to provide psychosocial support in a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

Vision
Provide a therapeutic environment for infants, children, adolescents and families founded on respect, and acceptance. Teach families to cultivate the soil in their individual lives and family relationships so strengths can be identified and mastery over life's hurts
and challenges can be nurtured.
“If we want people to show up, to bring their whole selves including their unarmored, whole hearts, we have to be vigilant about creating a culture in which people feel safe, seen, heard, and respected”
(Brown, 2018, p. 12).
